This Clergy Stewardship Fund (CSF) Policy outlines the terms and conditions under which Evangelical Faith Church (hereinafter referred to as “the Church”) will contribute to a financial support fund for its pastor. The purpose is to provide sustained financial security for the pastor throughout his lifetime of service and ensure provision for his family in the event of his death.
- Fund Contributions
- The Church shall contribute an amount equal to 10% of the Church’s monthly income into a designated Clergy Stewardship Fund (CSF).
- These contributions will be made directly from the Church’s funds and will not be deducted from the pastor’s income.
- Contributions will begin from the date of the pastor’s appointment and continue monthly throughout his service at the Church.
- The Clergy Stewardship Fund (CSF) shall be jointly managed by the Church and the Urgent Mission Council (UMC).
- Pastor’s Access to the Clergy Stewardship Fund (CSF)
- The pastor may begin to access the Clergy Stewardship Fund (CSF) upon reaching the age of 50, while continuing his ministry.
- The pastor may choose to:
- Withdraw the full amount in the fund.
- Withdraw a portion of the funds while allowing the remaining balance to continue growing.
- Convert the balance into a monthly support income.
- Family Access to the Fund in the Event of Pastor’s Death
- In the event of the pastor’s death, his family (spouse and/or children) shall have full access to the Clergy Stewardship Fund (CSF).
- The family may choose to:
- Withdraw the entire balance in a lump sum.
- Receive monthly payments from the fund as an annuity for up to 10 years, or until the youngest child turns 21, whichever occurs first.
- Early Termination of Service
- If the pastor steps down or leaves the Church before the age of 50, the contributions made by the Church up to that point will remain in the Clergy Stewardship Fund (CSF).
- The pastor will still be eligible to access the fund upon reaching the age of 50.
- Administration and Reporting
- The Church’s financial team will be responsible for ensuring that monthly contributions are transferred to the designated Clergy Stewardship Fund (CSF) on time.
- The pastor will receive an annual statement detailing the Church’s contributions and the current balance of the fund.
- Amendments
This policy may be amended by the Urgent Mission Council (UMC), in consultation with pastors, to ensure it meets legal and financial standards. Amendments must be approved by a majority vote of the Council. - Effective Date
This policy is effective as of January 1, 2025.
