Worship is about God. God still seeks true worshippers. He wants us to be occupied with Him. He wants our soul to bow down before Him in absorbed contemplation of Himself. In this kind of worship, we lose our SELF and are absorbed into HIMSELF. He increases while we decrease. We empty our limitations into the wealth of His possibilities. We connect our weakness to His limitless power. We plug our ineptness into His awesome, eternal ability. We make Him the Lord of our life.

God is calling us to worship. ‘O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker’ (Psalm 95:6). He is not calling us to worship Him through the relics of the Old Testament worship. He is not calling us to worship Him through any images or human, and clandestine mediators. He is not calling us to worship Him in our sin and disobedience. He is calling us ‘…worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: …’ (Psalm 96:9).

‘God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth’ (John 4:24). To worship God in the Spirit, you must be baptized (by the Holy Spirit) into Christ. This event happens at salvation – when you realise your sinfulness and need of a Saviour and you come before God in humility asking Him to forgive all your sins and shortcomings and inviting Jesus into your life to become your Lord and personal Saviour.

Our worship must be Holy Spirit inspired to be accepted by Him. What is the Holy Spirit telling us today? ‘… it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. (Matthew 4:10).
