The horror of consciously descending into the unknown is enormous.

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by a crisis and felt you were at your wit’s end? How did it feel? Were you horrified by the prospect of being pushed down by the problem? That is it. It is not always easy to be in the storm – especially the one that threatens to drive us into the unknown.

This reminds me of the story of a young man who was present at the scene of Jesus’ arrest. I can’t tell what he was there for – whether he was an admirer of the Lord or he was a spectator or he came on a wondering spree with the assailants of Jesus. But he was there. He must have left home hurriedly because he only covered his body with a wrapper. He wore nothing else.

As the events of the arrest unraveled, he watched them with horror, I guess. For some reason, the assailants tried to apprehend him. He got away naked, leaving his wrapper with them. The fear of the unknown!

It is horrible to go down a road that is filled with terrifying features or that leads to destruction. If you haven’t made Jesus the Lord of your life, you are journeying into the unknown. You are on a road that leads to destruction. It is horrible to descend consciously into that unknown horror. Turn back from that way. Turn to God through Jesus Christ and be saved.
