When Russia decided to attack Ukraine early last year, many people in Ukraine didn’t believe that Russia could do that. Russia, on the other hand, continued to deny its intention to attack Ukraine until the very last moment. And they struck. The war has been on ever since. And the battleground is on Ukrainian soil. I wonder how Ukrainians feel about the evil drama.
Many nations use deception and subtle machinations as strategies of war. Sometimes, they preach peace and diplomacy while they plan war and sudden invasions secretly.
There are times when life’s problems attack people as subtly as Russia did in Ukraine.
To some of the people who bear the brunt of such adverse strains, the concept of a loving God who sees all things and has the good of humanity at heart is vague, sometimes, abhorred.
There are troubles everywhere – our shared humanity (limitations, illnesses, deaths, etc.), businesses that are not working, stunted careers, joblessness, economic downturns, political imbroglios, inflation, wayward kids, epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters, etc. When you experience problems, you may be tempted to question who is in charge.
When some things seem not to be working well, is a loving God in charge of the affairs of men? For sure, when everything seems to be spiraling out of control, but for God, things would have been worse.
There is a God in heaven who loves us more than we can ever love ourselves Look at this passage from the Holy Bible: “And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, …” (Genesis 1:22 KJV). Who was God blessing here? Animals. God cares for animals. He blessed animals! You are more than an animal. Man is the crown of God’s creation; the zenith of His handwork. He cares for you. He loves you.
God is in charge of His creation. God is mindful of all His creatures. Anyone or situation that is telling you otherwise is deceptive and optimised to brew trouble and ultimate damnation for you.
How should you respond to God’s unconditional love for you? This kind of love demands giving over your entire life to Him. If God loves you this much even when you do not care about Him, you can trust Him with your life.
If you trifle with His love until you close your eyes in death, you will not be innocent at His judgement.
