Kings come and go. Dominions wane. Kingdoms rise and fall. The truly great one knows what others don’t. ‘… he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.’ (1 John 2:17 KJV). David was the king of the kingdom of Israel. He got himself endeared to God by the inclinations of his heart. It was his heart that attracted the kingdom to him. He ruled until God decided that he would always have someone from his family line on the throne.
Jesus was born into the family line of David and His Kingdom shall have no end.
There were other kings before and after David. Death terminated their kingship; battles and conquests ended their kingdoms. But David’s case was different. What did David know that others did not? David knew God and he stayed true to him at a time when everyone scampered for the ‘new school’ system that doused true devotion.
Everyone who has known God and has stayed true to Him has been distinguished in one way or another throughout history – some in this life and others in the ‘afterlife’.
It pays to know God and stay true to Him. Don’t be carried away by the wave of godlessness and modernisation of consecration going on in our day. Get to know God experientially and stay true to Him.
‘And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.’ (John 17:3 KJV)
